Meroë Psychiatric

Collaborative, Personalized, Evidence-Based Psychiatry for Adolescents and Adults

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY

“I treat every patient as individually as possible, because the solution of the problem is always an individual one.”
  — Carl Gustav Jung, MD

Individualized Approach to Psychiatric Care

Meroë Psychiatric, established in 2014 by Frank S. K. Appah Jr., MD, PhD, is a Westport, Connecticut-based practice providing psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, medication management, and consultation for adolescents and adults.

Care is individualized to each person and informed by their therapeutic goals, with an emphasis on clarifying diagnostic uncertainty and recognizing the interplay among psychosocial experiences, psychiatric and neuropsychiatric symptoms, and medical history.

Collaboration with physicians, psychologists, naturopaths, therapists, dietitians, and other specialists across disciplines is encouraged and often necessary to support therapeutic goals and provide well-integrated care, while keeping the client’s priorities and preferences at the center of treatment.

Treatment includes established approaches alongside thoughtful exploration of new and emerging therapies. When clinically useful, pharmacogenetic testing may provide additional information to help inform medication decisions. From large clinical trials to individual case reports, we thoughtfully consider a broad range of available evidence when exploring treatment options.
